From the Mountains to the C

The travels fencers were out again this weekend. Veer, Ved, Lex, and Madeline headed to the Air Force Academy while Lee battled the competition in Virginia Beach. Each fencer took on multiple events and gained valuable experience. Ved, Veer, and Lex brough home medals from the Academy, and Veer finished 3rd in the Cadet Event earning his C26, which is a fantastic achievement. Next weekend a group heads to Myrtle Beach as we continue to criss cross the coutnry while crossing swords with top athletes from all over the US.

Bigger in Texas

Lots of exciting fencing in Fort Worth at the first SYC and first travel tournament of the year. The Texas-sized highlight is that both Evan's made the T32 in the Y14 which will give them national points and a place in the Y14 national ranking when they next update. Congrats to the developing foilists! In addition to the national success, a couple of new milestones were also reached; Gideon will move past the 200 all time wins mark and Lex eclipses 700, highlighting the work and time the travel fencers have put in. The fencers also came back with lots to practice at the club as they learn and reflect on close and tough bouts to start the season.

Open Season

The fencing season has begun in TN with NEFC fencers in action on August 9 and back at home for 2 events on August 16. At the NEFC Season Opener, our fencers captured 7 of the top 8 spots across the open epee and foil events. The events featured a number of close and challenging matches both among our fencers and against visiting competitors. Congrats to everyone who competed. Definitely looking forward to an exciting season!

New Season, What's Your Point?!

The new season is bringing exciting changes to several of the systems in USA Fencing. One key update is the introduction of a Unified Points List for Senior, Junior, and Cadet fencers (not youth, yet!). In the new system, you will gain points from any sanctioned event you attend including local, regional and national. Your best 6 events will determine your overall ranking and eligibility for some national events. I will update information in the guides soon. In the meantime, I have added the unified rankings and points to your fencer page in the app. If you click on your ranking button, you will be taken to a details page with more information and links to your points page. Let me know questions and I can update information in the guides or in the data displays.

Summer Nationals 2026

The competitive team headed to Portland for the 10 day event that is Summer Nationals. This capstone event summed up the season as fencers faced adversity while learning to push towards new limits. Everyone was successful in surviving at least one cut and multiple fencers earned a national DE win, which marks substantial year-over-year progress for the fencers and club. This event also marked the end of the youth fencing interval for our 2011 fencers. Having been to summer nationals for all the Y10, 12, and 14 years, it's a bittersweet interlude that points to future challenges and opportunities. The moments fly by especialy with this crazy group so definitely cherish them while they happen. Until next season!
