Owner and Head Coach

Youngho Choun

Coach Young is a fencing master with more than 30 years of experience as both a coach and athlete. He began his coaching career in 2002 as Head Coach of the Korea National Sports University Fencing Team and later led South Korea's national team at major international competitions. After moving to the United States in 2008, he has coached at universities, private schools and elite clubs, with athletes earning national medals and reaching Ivy League programs.

BA and MA in Physical Education with a fencing focus; South Korean teaching and coaching certifications; USA Fencing coach with SafeSport training.

Fun fact

Coach Young appeared as a fencing double in early-2000s K-dramas.

Assistant Coach

Elway Goedicke

Coach Elway brings nine years of fencing experience and a strong focus on helping newer athletes grow into the sport. She began coaching through beginner camps and has continued teaching individual lessons and foundational skills to developing fencers. As a competitor, she earned a D19 rating in epee.

Background

Experienced youth and beginner instructor with competitive epee background.

Fun fact

Coach Elway was one of the top Y14 women's epee fencers in the region; her fencing jacket still carries the patch.
